The Worst and Best of New Music Friday (01/12/2017)

It's New Music Friday and we're here to guide you through the worst and best tunes released today. Click the titles to listen! (It's a short one today as most new releases are decidedly average and not worth even worth a mention).

Worst

Ed Sheeran is back and he's eyeing for that Christmas Number One spot (the artwork even has snow flakes on). Bringing Beyoncé along for the ride, the duo have created one of the most boring, lackluster tracks to be released in 2017. The phoned-in vocals and a guitar part that could've been written by a 6 year-old cement the fact that this is just a money spinning excuse to dominate the pop world for a little longer. We long for the day when our mega 'pop-stars' become more adventurous than this. Roll on 2018.

With some pretty luscious vocal harmonies in the opening verse, this tune didn't seem too terrible at first. But oh weren't we very, very wrong. Its not long before the EDM drop to end all EDM drops arrives. The excruciatingly awful musical trait is so jarring and out of place it beggars belief.

Louis Tomlinson has gone bad. He swears! The line 'everything is great, everything is fucking great', is so unbearably awkward that it makes us want to go live in a cave for the rest of our days. This weird Busted influenced tune is tonally all over the place. Auto tune, strings, guitar solo's. It's a complete mess and very forgettable.

Best

London based art rock band Django Django have released another single from their impending 2018 album 'Marble Skies'. Their latest offering 'In Your Best' is a synth heavy, electronic slice of indie pop brilliance. The track is full of 90s nostalgia and tee's up the album well for future success.

Colombian-Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez has arrived with her second single since she released her debut record 'Kiddo'. 'Cotton Candy' is a short, sweet and intimate guitar led single that focuses mainly on Reyez's unique and soulful voice.
